New Bedford Police detectives took three firearms off the street and arrested a city man after an investigation into drug activity.

According to a release from police, detectives assigned to the Organized Crime Intelligence Bureau executed a search warrant on Friday, July 15 at 1595 Braley Road. The target of the search, police said, was Joshua Washburn, 27. Det. Lavar Gilbert led the investigation.

Police said the search of the residence turned up more than 430 grams of marijuana, packaging materials, digital scales, and $1,257 in cash.

Through investigation, detectives also learned that Washburn had a storage unit, and they received a warrant to search that as well. There, police said detectives located “a loaded 9mm P80 “ghost gun,” a loaded Ruger LCP .380, and a loaded Micro Desert Eagle .380” as well as “numerous rounds of ammunition.” They said they also located “a 9mm high-capacity magazine capable of holding 30 rounds of ammunition.”

Police said Washburn was taken into custody and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute as well as possession of three firearms, ammunition, and a high-capacity feeding device without a license.
