Guide to the New World Winter Convergence Event and an overview of all activities you can participate in and the rewards during the festival!

With Update 1.2, came a good set of PvP and Endgame changes and this nice new event. It has multiple parts to it, which all add up to pretty well rounded event. It can also be incredibly rewarding, but will take a bit of time to get there.

This guide will break down all the ways you can progress through the Winter Convergence Festival Event and show you how to get the most out of it.

The Winter Convergence Festival Event is New World’s seasonal Holiday Event. This Event will see you helping a Yeti, referred to as the Winter Wanderer, recover their memories and stop the Winter Warriors. The Winter Warriors being other Yetis that wish to make Aeternum “Forever Winter”. There are many ways to help the Winter Wanderer, all of which can reward you with unique items and seasonal loot.

The festival started on December 16th, 2021. It was expected to end on January 11th, 2022. The next Patch 1.3 just showed up on PTR on January 6th, 2022. So AGS has extended the event until January 25th, the expected release date of the 1.3 patch.

Let’s talk about everything this event has to offer. There’s a quest line, which has you facing off against entirely new Elite enemies, all of which are named and do have their own unique drops. There’s a temporary new addition to towns, Trees of Light, which can be upgraded via Town Board missions to help accelerate your progress in the event.

The primary goal of each and every part of this event is to earn Winter Tokens which can be spent in the Winter Convergence Festival Shop, available from the Winter Wanderer in any Winter Village. These locations are detailed in the next section.

The Winter Convergence Festival Shop also expands its offerings as you increase your Reputation with the Winter Wanderer. Everything you do to earn Winter Tokens will give you progress towards ranking up this shop. This includes Dailies like the Tree of Light, the short quest line that’s part of the event and all the other festivities.

All of the Winter Convergence Festival event quests will start from the Winter Wanderer, a friendly Yeti that also serves as the Event Shop Vendor.

They can be located in any Winter Village. The Winter Villages are found in the following locations:

The Southern part of Monarch’s Bluff, the Dreadscythe Spirit Shrine is also in close proximity for easy access.

The Eastern Part of Everfall, the Bearclaw Spirit Shrine is also in close proximity for easy access.

Northeastern Brightwood, the Wolfbough (Fort Alazar) Spirit Shrine is near by for easy access.

And Northern Weaver’s Fen, which has the Mallory’s Refuge Spirit Shrine nearby for easy access.

These are all paced to be spread out enough so that every territory has one nearby, but doesn’t require one in every territory. Most are conveniently placed near a Spirit Shrine for easy access.

In this segment you will find detailed step-by-step instructions on how to start and complete the Introductory quests and the Elite Enemy quests available during the event.

This quest line will slowly introduce you to each part of the event’s offerings, and it’s recommended to be at least Level 25 to start this, though you will need to be Level 60 to fully complete it. These first few, which we’re calling the Introductory Quests for simplicity, show you the mechanics of progressing the event. It Introduces the Lost Presents, Gleamite Meteors and Tree of Light. Completing these will get you up to Rank 2 with the Vendor, with a bit of extra.

Lost Presents are found all over near the roads as you travel Aeternum. Each Present you collect will go to your inventory as a Recovered Present. There are some rare ones that will gives you 20 Recovered Presents instead. These are marked on your compass when they are within 100 meters.

You can bring these to a Winter Hut in the Winter Villages to trade 3 Recovered Presents for a Winter Token. These will often be your go-to way to grind additional Winter Tokens.

Collecting Lost Presents only awards 5 Event Reputation, unless you luck into the larger one, which grants 25 Event Reputation.

Gleamite Meteors are a new Night-only event. They’ll spawn by dropping from the sky with a loud crash (very hard to miss if in the area, as it can be heard up to 200+ meters away) and glow extremely brightly after landing. Each Meteor Landing will create a few Gleamite Chunks and a several Gleamite Shards.

Gleamite Chunks can be collected with a Pickaxe and reward you with 15 Gleamite and 25 Event Reputation, while shards can be collected for a single Gleamite and 5 Event Reputation. You get roughly 75 Gleamite per Meteor, assuming nobody else is gathering it. If it is contested, try to get as many Chunks as you can before grabbing Shards.

Much like Lost presents, they can be traded in at Winter Huts in Winter Villages at a rate of 10 Gleamite to 1 Winter Token. There’s also special food that can be purchased for 2 tokens each which increases a stat of choice and doubles your Gleamite gathered for one hour. This can make a single Gleamite Meteor worth 150 Gleamite, or 15 tokens.

A Tree of Light can be found in Every Settlement, typically replacing existing fountains or statues. These also have presents under them which vary by which tier the Tree is. Collecting these present from the tree also rewards a daily bonus to your reputation with the Winter Wanderer. These will be the largest daily source of your reputation gain if you have the time or Azoth to spare, awarding up to 1650 if all territories max their Tree of Light.

The first three Trees of Light you collect will also come with some extra bonuses, awarding both a Diamond Gypsum and their presents also contain a Lockbox with 100 Coins. Diamond Gypsum are part of the newly reworked Expertise System also released in Patch 1.2. These first three Tree of Light visits will also have a small chance of rewarding a Winter Convergence Festival Weapon or Armor Pattern, in addition to the gift and lockbox rewards.

Tier 1 of the Tree of Light has a Forlorn Gift Pile, which awards 50 Reputation with the Winter Wanderer and a Hastily Wrapped Present. Opening this Present will award 1 Winter token. Collecting all 11 of these will net you 550 Reputation for the event.

Tier 2 of the Tree of Light has a Magnificent Gift Pile, which awards 100 Reputation with the Winter Wanderer and a Beautifully Wrapped Present. This Present contains 3 Winter Token and has a chance to also give 1 Premium Winter Token. Collecting all 11 at this tier of these will net you 1100 Reputation for the event.

Tier 3 of the Tree of Light is the final tier and has an Exquisite Gift Pile, which awards you 150 Reputation with the Winter Wanderer and an Exquisitely Wrapped Present. This Present contains 5 Winter Tokens but may also contain a Premium Winter Token. It has a slightly higher chance to provide a Premium Token over a Beautifully Wrapped Present. Collecting all 11 of these will net you 1650 Reputation for the event.

If at any point you collect your daily reward from a Tree of Light, and then it’s upgraded, you can collect it again. However this will only provide the difference between the tier you collected originally and the tier you’re recollecting from.

Similarly to Trees of Light, each Winter Village also has a Bountiful Gift Sack, which can be claimed for 125 reputation per day, for a total of 500 per day.

With the Tree of Light being part of towns and having Tiers, it has some of it’s own special Town Board Missions. Often these can be simple collect ones that aren’t different than normal. There are however a handful of unique tasks like making Stone Ornaments or Iron Tree Hooks.

Regardless of the task, each time you complete these, you get a fairly small reward of Coin, Town Rep and XP as usual. You also gain 5 Reputation with the Event Vendor. These are fairly easy to stock pile for as well, as they often ask for the same items over and over.

They’ll often ask for Stone Ornaments (made from Stone Blocks), Iron Tree Hooks (made from Iron Ingots), Timber, Stone Bricks, or Linen. The whole idea of these to upgrade the tree by Decorating it.

Most of the big enemies in these quests will be Yetis, but much less friendly than our Winter Wanderer friend. We’ll detail the quest progression and then cover our new foes in detail so you have everything you need to success in this quest.

The first of these Elite Quests send us after three named Yetis. All of these are Level 25 and it’s worth taking some time with them to learn their attacks, as all the Yetis you’ll face will have the same attacks they can do.

First is Rames, who resides just West of Everfall’s Winter Village in Rames’ Refuge, just Southwest from Bearclaw Shrine.

Hari, who resides in Southern Monarch’s Bluff, in Hari’s Hollow which is just North of Monarch’s Bluff Winter Village and the Dreadscythe Spirit Shrine, which makes it fairly easy to reach

Finally there’s Sunit, who resides in Light’s Crown Lair, which is in Western’s First Light, near the border to Cutlass Keys. This unfortunately means that unlike the other two, your options for getting here quickly are Quick Traveling to either Cutlass Keys or the Las Torres Lookout Spirit Shrine in First Light and running from there.

Once you’ve defeated these three, you’ll be onto the second set of three yetis. These ones are much higher level and can be tough to solo without learning their attacks.

This time you’ll be going after two yeti that each hold half of a rune that allows you to trigger the Winter Warrior Fight. The first starts at Level 61 and the final one ends at level 65. These can be fairly dangerous solo as they are still Gold Elites, making them fairly bulky and far easier to tackle in a group.

First up is Sesa, a Level 61 Yeti who resides in Serenity Sanctuary in central Ebonscale Reach. The quickest way to get here is to Quick Travel to the Pilgrim’s Rest Spirit Shrine and make you way into the deeper section of Serenity Rise. This are is often a hotspot for Corruption as well, which can make even heading to Sesa a dangerous task solo.

Then we’re after Isvari, a Level 62 Yeti who resides in Isvari’s Isolation located in Northern Edengrove not too far from the border to Shattered Mountain. The quickest way to get here is generally by Quick Traveling to the Gatherer’s Road Spirit Shrine and following the road North, then going East just before we turn towards Shattered Mountain.

After defeating these two, it’s on to the final location to face the Winter Warrior, a Level 65 Yeti. The Winter Warrior resides in Spelunker’s Demise in Shattered Mountain, a cave directly north of Mountainrise Outpost.

This cave needs to be cleared before you can place the rune to summon the Winter Warrior. All the enemies in this area are level 65 Elites, including the spirits outside. We won’t be detailing them as they’re not special outside of always having Cold Aura. All other enemies will be detailed below though

Once you’ve defeated this final Yeti, you’ve completed the questline for the Winter Convergence Festival Event and gained a few thousand Reputation in the process!

Now that we’ve detailed the quest, let’s talk about the foes you’ll encounter and the attacks they can use as you fight them. We’ll start with the smallest and work our way up the chain.

These ones aren’t dangerous whatsoever on their own, as they’re literally rocks created by certain attacks or by defeating Shivers. You may want to clear them quickly as they interact with attacks from Winter Warriors and Frostgrips.

When hit with a Frostgrip’s Frost Zone, they will re-emerge as Shivers, regardless of what spawned them. They will never be Elite, but will match the level of the zone.

When hit by a Winter Warrior’s Shockwave however, they create another radial Shockwave from their location that echoes the damage of the initial shockwave. This will hurt, especially if you get hit by both the shockwave and this echoed shockwave.

Shivers are very basic enemies, not really any more dangerous than basic Lost, and utilizing similar attacks.

They’re primarily melee units, but can every so often use a short range Ice Vomit Attack that deals damage and create a small patch of slowing ground.

Rimewolves won’t be until the later trio of Winter Warriors, and they are just standard Rimewolves. No different than the ones found in Great Cleave.

Frostfangs are a more threatening melee unit, having faster attacks and higher damage compared to Shivers.

These enemies only have two things you have to watch out for, a quick Whirling Blade Attack, that launches them forward. This attack can hit pretty hard, while hitting quite a few times and inflicting Weaken.

The other thing to watch out for is them casting their Empowering Buff. While this only affects them, it makes them incredibly lethal. Make sure you interrupt them if you see them stand still and cross their sickles.

Frostgrips are a particularly dangerous threat as they are ranged mages that can Root with just their basic attacks, which can be fatal if you’re also fighting a Winter Warrior and have aggro of both. On top of those attacks they have a couple dangerous spells.

The first spell to watch out for is their Frost Zone. This spell creates a massive Slowing area that’s roughly an 8 meter radius around the Frost Grip. While it doesn’t do any damage it does however makes it hard to avoid attacks by any means other that dodging or blocking. This attack will also turn any Avalanchers in the radius into Shivers.

Their other spell is Boulder Lob. This is a ranged spell that lobs an Avalancher at you, stunning you and dealing damage if it hits directly. It’s a slow projectile which makes it easy to avoid.

With this Spell creating an Avalancher, and having another that can turn them into Shivers, along with all their crowd control it’s clear they make an attempt to slowly overwhelm you with minions. Though with Shivers being fairly weak, their crowd control is more of a threat when accompanied by any other unit.

The Winter Warriors themselves have a pretty diverse set of close, mid, and long range attacks.

The first attack we’ll talk about is the Boulder Toss. Much like a Frostgrip’s Boulder Lob, is deals damage a stuns on a direct hit, but will still spawn an Avalancher if it misses. Unlike the Frostgrip though, this is an insanely fast projectile. You’ll want to be ready to dodge soon after the boulder is above their head as shown below.

The next Attack is a simple Melee Swipe, much like the attack of existing Ravagers, they will charge into range if they decide to use it. It has a very similar dodge timing as well, despite the animation being slightly quicker.

Let’s talk about their other close-mid range attack, Ice Breath. This attack whille have the Winter Warrior drop to its hands and knees, and inhaling for a couple seconds before releasing a large cone of damage that also Roots anyone that it damages.

During the part of the animation shown above where they tuck their head towards their chest is when you should be ready to dodge. As soon as they bring their head up they’ll release this attack from this position.

The last attack that we need to be aware of is their Icy Shockwave attack. The Winter Warrior prepares a spell in one of its hands briefly, before slamming crushing the condensed winter energy it creates to create a shockwave.

This Icy Shockwave hits a very wide area in front of them, which can span the entire length of any cave you may fight them in (~15m). On top of this hitting really hard, you also need to be aware of where any Avalanchers are as they’ll create a similar but smaller range shockwave that will often hurt just as much.

The Winter Convergence Festival Shop is available in any Winter Village. Look for the Winter Wanderer.

Like any faction vendor does, this event shop also has 5 different ranks to it, each with some interesting rewards.

Along with the rates for Lost Presents and Gleamite shown above, this special shop lets you also convert Premium Winter Tokens and Winter Tokens as well.

This conversion also works in the opposite direction, should you get a Premium Token early on from a Tree of Light or Quest and want to get more early Gleamite Attunement Snacks.

Outside of very early Premium Winter Tokens from quests, this conversion is less beneficial as it only gets easier to get Winter Tokens as the event progresses and Trees of Light get upgraded.

The First Rank, despite not having much, has one of the more important items you can get early in the event, Gleamite Attunement Snacks.

These handy little snacks increase its predetermined stat attribute by 1 – 33 based on Level, while also doubling the Gleamite you gain from gathering Gleamite Meteors.

On average, with close enough spawn, this can bring two meteors up from ~125 Gleamite up to 250 Gleamite, giving you a total of 25 Winter Tokens (or enough for a Premium Token).

The only Completely unique thing to this rank of rewards are the couple pieces of Ice-themed Furniture. A nice Snowcapped Chair and a Snowcapped Shelf to decorate your home with for a cost of 3 Premium Winter Tokens (75 Winter Tokens) or more if you get multiples.

While this is the first appearance of the Winter Gear, they’re only GS 295 Greens, which if you’re near/at max level won’t do you much good. As Greens they only carry a fixed attribute appropriate for DPS. The Armor Sets also carry similar attributes, with each having a different fixed stat.

This Rank also only features a few pieces of furniture as its unique rewards. This time it’s a Snowcapped Nightstand, Snowcapped Lantern and a Snowcapped Rabbit Sculpture. These cost a total of 8 Premium Winter Tokens (200 Winter Tokens), assuming you don’t get multiple.

Much like Rank two, The Winter Gear pieces are here as well, except as GS 380 Blues, requiring level 30. The weapons now have the Chain Ice and Armor gains Corruption Resistance.

Similar to previous ranks, the only unique rewards here are the furniture again. This time it’s a Snowcapped Dining Table, Snowcapped Chandelier, and a Snowcapped Boar Sculpture. These cost a total of 18 Premium Winter Tokens (450 Winter Tokens) to get one of each.

Also similar to Rank 3, this rank also have Blue Gear, this time at GS 460, requiring level 45. Weapons and Armor both gain their open socket for gems at this rank.

This Rank has the most unique rewards, while still having the Winter Gear. This time the Winter Gear are all 520 Epics, though only the weapons are super useful if you’re already well past this Expertise rating, as they have Luck.

The Armors can be really good option for getting into the more dangerous farming areas, as they can make you very durable for taking on Shattered Mountain’s Elite Areas for better loot by providing you Corruption Ward.

These also start costing Premium Winter Tokens at this Rank, costing 2-3 Premium Winter Tokens (50-75 Winter Tokens) per item, with the Chest armors and weapons costing 5 Premium Winter Tokens (125 Winter Tokens) .

In addition to the Winter Gear, there’s also Patterns for the Winter Gear, letting you craft a GS 500+ Weapon or Armor with a more festive look. Since these only cost 1 Winter Token, they can be well worth the cost, serving more or less as a Free Weapon or Armor Skin, but not a guaranteed GS 600 like the other Patterns introduced this patch.

Speaking of Armor Skins, this rank also has a few would-be Cash Shop items available for Premium Tokens. One of these is an actual Armor Skin called the Winter Wanderer’s Cloak. The others are a Festive “Toy” Rabbit for your house which has a holiday sweater with a wind-up attached to make it look like a toy and a Give Present Emote.

Finally, this rank also has its own unique furniture like the other ranks. Finally, this set consists of a Snowcapped Bed, Snowcapped Bookcase, and Snowcapped Stag Sculpture. Strangely, get one of each of these items will only cost you 8 Premium Winter Tokens (200 Winter Tokens). This is likely because of the higher cost items in the 530 Epics and Cash Shop-esque items.

I highly recommend breaking down the first Premium Winter Token you get from the quest line to pick up some easy Gleamite Attunement Snacks. These will bring you a ton of Reputation to level the event quickly and lots of Tokens in return for this early investment.

It’s very worth learning a few Meteor spawn locations before committing to using them and trying to get at least 2-3 meteors per night while this buff is active. This will let you progress very quickly and build a huge stock of tokens up for later. After this, it’ll be all about saving up to get the things you want.

I also highly recommend walking between destinations when possible, especially at night. Lost Presents are scattered near roads, and never too far from any given road. These will slowly increase your event rank, but more importantly will be an easy way to get tokens as these respawn fairly often. At Night, you’ll also have a good chance of finding Gleamite Meteors which further boost your progress and Token hoarding.

When you get to Rank 5, I highly recommend getting 1-2 Epic weapons at most if you want them, otherwise, Patterns are a much better investment of your tokens after that. Patterns are only a single Winter Token each, making them super cheap.

If you play Sword and Shield, absolutely do not skip either! Both parts of this weapon have full stats (25 vs normal 15), meaning you can get an extra 20 CON you wouldn’t get otherwise, giving you an effective 515 Attribute points (as opposed to the . Just one of these will let you hit a 300/200 split in stats cleanly with Food.

Then Getting the Cash Shop-esque items early is also a solid pick up, as these may be unique to the event shop and not directly purchasable. So putting priority on them is a good idea in case they don’t return should this event come around again.

Finally, get any housing items that interest you and spend the rest of your Tokens on patterns and only patterns. Chances are even if you can’t craft them, you can find someone that can. There’s also the potential of them becoming more valuable after the event ends.

This concludes our guide on New World’s Winter Convergence Festival Event.
